The Moto KL
Mini Moto Experience Day
ON 3 June 2010 was sponsored by
norfolkarena.co.uk
(KING’S LYNN)
Keith Chapman so
generously provides us with a free venue.
Simon Mollet of MAG BSE
is our
Maurice and Karen are the lovely people
amazing spanner man, who has
who have been paying for our fuel over
kept our bikes running for several
several seasons
seasons, and takes days off work in
order to do so - Thanks Si!
Si was joined at this event by Andy,
and not only did he work his socks off
all day for us, he presented us with £100
from MAG Bury St Edmunds towards
the costs of the day. Thanks soooo much
This
event was a mini moto riding experience, whether you had never ridden before, or
you just wanted to hone your
track skills, made possible by our sponsors above ... and Nathan
Holland of Norfolk Arena, who designed and laid down our excellent track for the day,
Colin Perriss, who is our awesome photographer and trackside child
protection officer and worked tirelessly alongside Glynn training up
the novice riders, Debs Perriss - trackside manager, who manages
the track time so smoothly, Fen Govier-Tedder - kitting up manager,
ably assisted by James Bye, and Paul Welham - who calmly mutli
tasks in all areas and does a fantastic job for us.
At this event we were joined by Glynn - who races 600cc bikes to
relax, to help train the novices - what we didn't actually tell
Glynn was there was 34 of them expected ... totally unphased - Glynn
worked some kind of magic. Within 1/2 hour the novices were
tearing round the track like full season riders.
MK1-James Blackburn, Carl Brooks, Mat Trudgill, Louie Sharpin, and
Dan Warmer - who are our Youth Committee, spent the day doing display rides,
and marshalling, and in full leathers gradually melted as the day
wore on.
Kevin Dennis bravely marshalled all day for us in the searing heat -
thank you so much.
I am sure our riders join me in thanking you all.
Our riders are listed below, some of our seasoned riders joined us
for the day, together with our new riders - who were voted the
fastest learning riders ever!
Some
riders were accompanied by their very nervous mum's - but we assured
them that their child would bounce
and
some did ..
Fox Chapman managed to rip a pair of trousers to shreds - sorry mum!
Brodie Griggs - who went off track onto the shale managed a very
controlled stop - well done.
Josh Luther had a spectacular crash - making our Paul Welham sprint
so fast to attend to him that we have had a
call from the Olympic team! Unphased Josh got straight back on
the bike - excellent attitude.
Alex Garford Turner demonstrated amazing skills - with some
excellent overtaking, weaving through riders, and riding so fast
that we thought one of our seasoned riders has sneaked into a novice
group-
impressing us majorly
Riki Day who has hardly ridden over the last 2 years, rode in our
MK1 Group and stunned us with some awesome riding.
Mathew Keatleigh who demonstrated total awareness and control on the
track- brilliant riding.
Thank
you to Jed Lane who emailed us his thanks for the day, and to the
other 2 riders (sorry didnt catch your names) who took the time to
thank us for their day's riding - feedback from the riders is always
appreciated
and a special well done to a brave mum who is totally anti bikes,
but allowed her son to ride with us.
Every rider received a Certificate of Success from Norfolk Arena,
kindly presented by Nathan Holland
and here are some
stunning
photos by our awesome Colin Perriss ...... click on the photo to enlarge it ...
